About Iron Ore Finder

Iron ore is the cornerstone resource of Minecraft progression — tools, armor, anvils, hoppers, rails, and dozens of other recipes all start with iron. It generates abundantly throughout the Overworld in stone, deepslate, and exposed mountain variants. Raw iron drops from each block and must be smelted into ingots before crafting. Java and Bedrock share the same dual-band 1.18+ distribution. Enter your seed into the Iron Finder to locate large nearby veins without strip mining.

How to Find Iron Ore In Minecraft

Iron ore generates in two bands since the 1.18 update: a deep band peaking at Y=16 (the classic mining level) and a mountain band peaking at Y=232 — windswept hills and jagged peaks biomes are loaded with surface iron you can grab without digging. Veins can contain up to 40 blocks and require a stone pickaxe or better. Fortune III on the pickaxe boosts raw iron drops significantly. The Iron Finder plots both bands at once from your seed.
