Minecraft Slime Chunk Finder
Enter your seed and coordinates to find the nearest slime chunks for your slime farm. Works for Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition, no mods or F3 tricks needed.
What Is a Slime Chunk?
A slime chunk is a 16×16 column of the world where slimes can spawn underground. About 1 in 10 chunks is a slime chunk, but nothing in the terrain shows it, so you can dig for hours without knowing you're in one. Slimes spawn there below Y 40 at any light level, which makes slime chunks the best place to build a slime farm for slimeballs.
Slimeballs craft sticky pistons, slime blocks, leads and magma cream, so a working slime farm is one of the most useful early redstone builds. The Slime Chunk Finder calculates the slime chunks around you from your seed and version.
How to Find Slime Chunks
- Get your world seed with
/seed, or from the world settings screen. - Enter your current X and Z coordinates (press F3 in Java, or turn on Show Coordinates in Bedrock).
- Pick your edition and version, then press Find Slime Chunks.
- Go to a result, dig below Y 40 and clear out a large room inside the chunk for slimes to spawn in.
Slime Chunks in Java vs Bedrock
In Java Edition, slime chunks are worked out from the world seed and the chunk coordinates, so every seed has its own pattern. In Bedrock Edition, slime chunks sit at the same coordinates in every world. Java spawns slimes in groups of up to four, while Bedrock spawns them one at a time. Select the right edition in the finder so the chunks match your world.
Slime Chunk FAQ
What is a slime chunk in Minecraft?
A slime chunk is a 16×16 column of the world where slimes can spawn underground. About 1 in 10 chunks is a slime chunk. Nothing about the terrain marks it, so the only reliable way to know is to calculate it from the chunk coordinates, which is what the Slime Chunk Finder does.
What Y level do slimes spawn at in slime chunks?
Slimes spawn in slime chunks below Y 40, in the Overworld. Light level and weather don't matter, so a slime farm can be fully lit. In Java Edition they spawn in groups of up to four; in Bedrock Edition they spawn one at a time.
Are slime chunks the same in Java and Bedrock?
No. In Java Edition, slime chunks depend on the world seed, so every world has a different pattern. In Bedrock Edition, slime chunks are at the same coordinates in every world, whatever the seed. Pick the right edition and version in the finder so the results match your world.
Do slimes spawn anywhere else?
Yes. Slimes also spawn on the surface in swamps and mangrove swamps between Y 51 and Y 69 at night, most often on a full moon and never on a new moon. Trial chamber spawners and the Oozing effect can produce slimes too, but slime chunks are the only place they spawn underground at any light level.
